Project Engineer
As a Project Engineer, you will be assigned specific projects by the chief technical officer, for which you will be responsible for ensuring all design, document generation, first article builds, testing and production/service approval activities execute to plan (Safe, Compliant, On Budget, On Schedule).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, operate tooling and equipment required for assembly and test, verbally communicate with management in spoken and written English and read and execute work instructions written in English. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
This is a full-time office position, located on the Space Coast in Melbourne, Florida. Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with flexible hours available.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Review product design documentation, customer requirements, performance standards, design standards, complete technical studies, and prepare cost and schedule estimates for proposed and ongoing projects
• Submit testing and validation plans for product conformance and acceptance activities to the Program Manager for approval
• Provide Program Manager with project schedule by reviewing project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements and sequencing project elements
• Maintain project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities and resolving issues
• Provide project status reports to Program Manager by collecting, analyzing and summarizing project execution performance and trends and provides recommended actions to meet plan objectives
• Perform mechanical, electrical, software and/or system design, prototype development, testing and validation activities as required
• Support generation and revision of work instructions and required technical documentation for production servicing and repair operations
• Design/Develop specialized test equipment/fixtures and associated technical documents and users’ manuals as required to support production, test, certification and maintenance of products and services
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Must be legally able to work in the United States
• Valid drivers license
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Preferred
• 2+ years experience in aircraft, aerospace or DOD design activities a plus
• Awareness of AS9100 operational requirements
• Awareness of 14CFR Part 145 operational requirements
• Awareness of 14CFR Part 21 operational requirements
• Knowledge of aviation industry specific safety, quality and technical, design, testing, production and servicing requirements preferred
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures a plus
• Understanding of RF design processes tools and requirements a plus
Competencies
• Advanced computer skills to include use of Microsoft Office Suite and other specialized design software applications
• Ability to operate a variety of testing instruments related to electronic design and testing activities (Multi-Meters, O-Scopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Power Supplies, Etc.)
• Effectively identify and communicate technical issues, risks, mitigation actions and project status to leadership
